Important Deadlines

Paying for college is a partnership between the student, the family, and the University. Before accepting admission to Howard University, each student received a financial aid offer outlining the University's contribution through scholarships, grants, loans, and other financial resources, as well as the estimated portion of educational costs that would remain the responsibility of the student and family.

Accordingly, all published payment deadlines apply only to your out-of-pocket costs after accepted federal financial aid and anticipated Howard University institutional scholarships have been applied. External scholarships, private loans, employer sponsorships, and most 529 plan payments are not included in these calculations until the funds have been received by Howard University and successfully posted to your student account.

Students and families are responsible for ensuring that any remaining balance is paid by the applicable deadline. If you are relying on external funding sources, we encourage you to work closely with your sponsor or lender to ensure payments are submitted to the University in sufficient time to meet published deadlines.
